How is it February already? I certainly can’t believe how quickly the first month of 2016 flew by! Now that we’re officially in the month of love, it’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day gifts. To me, Valentine’s Day isn’t about grandeur or big ticket gifts, it’s more about the small gestures that show someone you really care. Growing up, my mom would always give my siblings and me a Valentine’s Day card and some little trinket as a gift, such as cute pencils (like these) or some silly socks (like these). Our cards and little gifts would be laid out on the table with our cereal bowls in the morning before school, and it was so fun to get a little surprise. Even in college, my mom would send me a little treat in the mail (and still does), but really it’s the gesture that means the most to me more than anything else.

I’m starting with a gift guide for him, as the guys always seem to be the trickiest to shop for. I don’t think it’s necessary to feel a lot of gift-giving pressure for Valentine’s Day, especially having just gone through the holiday shopping frenzy! A little token of gratitude and love is all that necessary. If you must give a gift, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite choices. Practical gifts are always a win in my mind. Also, did you know how much guys love candles, too?

If none of the gift options suit your Valentine this year, you could always bake something tasty! They do say the way to his heart is through his stomach…try homemade pop tarts or flavored marshmallows (more Valentine’s recipes will be coming soon)!
