Rainy Afternoon

I could sit by the warm fire with a good book all day every day if I had the chance. There’s something very special about getting lost in the lives of the characters in a book for a few hours. In addition to stimulating the imagination, reading regularly can keep your mind sharp and broaden your vocabulary. I love to pull out a good book during the subway ride to and from my office each day. Reading truly makes the time fly by, and it makes good use of commuting time that would otherwise be wasted. I also love to read for a bit before falling asleep. I find it is relaxing and a slight escape from all the thoughts and “to-dos” running through my mind.

Here’s my current reading list. You can see my progress on Goodreads.com.

  1. The Four Agreements. I’ve just started this book as I love personal growth books (like this one). I think we should all strive to be the best versions of ourselves (and to be at peace with that)!
  2. The Vactioners. This will be my next beach read (or more likely lazy-afternoon-by-the-fire read).
  3. To Hold the Crown. I personally loved reading (and watching!) Game of Thrones, and I hear this book is a great historical fiction account of the events of that era.
  4. Go Set A Watchman. To Kill a Mockingbird was a classic from high school English class that I enjoyed. Now that Harper Lee has come out with another book, it is surely a crowd-pleaser. Plus, it is a New York Times 2015 best-seller!
  5. Why Not Me? Every once in awhile, I love to read a down-to-earth, humorous book about all the little things we face on a day to day basis. From what I hear, I think Mindy Kaling is meeting that criteria in this one!

If you’ve read any of the books from the list above, I’d love to know how you liked them! Any other book recommendations for when I’m done with these are welcome too!
