Lace Up & Slip On

I have a tendency to wear my shoes into the ground. Literally. I walk at least two, but sometimes upward of six miles every day commuting to and from work and running around the city. Not only does all the walking take a significant toll on my shoes in the form of scuffed toes and worn out heels, but it also does some damage to my feet in terms of blisters.

The best solution I’ve found is to designate a pair or two of comfortable shoes for commuting purposes. I see lots of people wearing neon running shoes with their business casual (I’m not going to say that I’ve never done it in a moment of desperation), but there are many far more stylish and subdued options that are meant specifically for getting you from point A to point B on your feet. Also,  there is no better feeling than putting on some comfy sneaks at the end of a long day for the trip home.

All this business about changing shoes can lead to a fully stocked office shoe supply – isn’t this the truth? I know I have at least three pairs of shoes at the under my desk right now.

Side note: One great solution for all those blisters –  if you can’t prevent them in the first place – is this friction stick. It helps to heal and protect your poor feet.

Do you have any commuting tips to share? I’d love to hear them!

I agree, I’m not a big fan of the neon gym shoe trend. It always makes me feel like I should be running even though I’m dressed in work clothes. My white converse are my go-to commuter shoe, though they are looking a little dirty from the city.
