Wild

Wild by Cheryl Strayed is truly…eye-opening. I don’t quite know how else to put it. The idea of one woman, completely alone, hiking over 1,000 miles along Pacific Crest Trail sounds positively terrifying to me; but, Cheryl shares so much about why she chose to walk – about coping with a major loss that plummeted her into an all-time low. As the reader, I sympathized with h

er and rooted for her along the way. When she triumphed, I applauded, and when she failed, I worried about her. Cheryl whittled away all those figurative protective layers to define her true self. An easy read, this book makes a great addition to any summer reading list.

Reese Witherspoon nails this role in the movie. She perfectly embodies the delicate, somewhat fragile, woman who really finds her inner strength to face all the challenges that a multiple month solo hike presents. Since the movie, understandably so, skips a decent amount of Cheryl’s internal monologue, I definitely recommend reading the book beforehand.

What books are on your reading list for the beach this summer?

I’m def adding this to my summer reading list. I like it when I can feel connected to a character that I want them to succeed. I’m currently reading the final book in the Hunger Games series and a few others on my list are: My Sister’s Keeper and Seating Arrangements!

You should read it – I’d love to know what you think! I tore through the Hunger Games series, and I loved My Sister’s Keeper – the Jodi Picoult books have a way of hooking you in. I’ll have to try Seating Arrangements this summer!

I read this book a few months ago and loved it! I haven’t seen the movie yet because I’m scared it won’t be as good as the book haha This summer I have quite a long list of books I want to get through, but on the top of the list is Beautiful Ruins (I’m finally getting around to reading it) and The Hypnotist’s Love Story.

The movie was a good portrayal I thought, but it definitely glossed over a few things. If you do watch it, I hope you like it! I haven’t read either of those two, but they are definitely being added to my summer reading list!
