Getting Back To Normal(ish) after COVID-19

Recently, I shared my story of being a recent MBA graduate when COVID-19 started to take hold. As with almost everyone else over the last several months, I faced uncertainty in both my career and potential income stream. Learning to be flexible and adapt to the changing atmosphere not only for safety and health reasons but also for economic ones was (and still is) crucial. Learning to pivot my business as a content creator during COVID-19 was challenging, especially as brands started to trim their budgets and paid opportunities became fewer and far between. I was fortunate to team up with GoDaddy back in May to share some of the resources that helped me, in particular GoDaddy’s #OpenWeStand Community Chat. It was especially comforting to know that many others were in the same position of uncertainty that I was in.

Now that some states (I live in Massachusetts) are starting to re-open, people are looking for a sense of normalcy. Although we may be wearing masks and staying 6 feet apart from one another for the foreseeable future, the simple act of going out for an ice cream or sitting outside at a favorite restaurant feels like such a blessing. After months of being unable to go out to eat, get your hair done, go shopping, visit with friends and family, I found the creative process of creating new content to be entirely different. You can only do so many at-home manis, am I right? You have to start thinking about what is next and how to get creative with the talents and resources you have.

Almost all of my work can be done remotely and online. I’m very grateful that throughout the COVID-19, I have been able to work from home, and even more grateful that sometimes I can even set up outside to enjoy the fresh air.

GoDaddy has been providing tons of amazing resources throughout this time on their #OpenWeStand microsite. I’ve certainly found myself referencing the site for guidance, information and inspiration. Some of my favorite articles are about why it may actually be a good time to start a business, professional development, and navigating social media in this new normal. Check out the site – I think you’ll find some helpful resources as well!
