An amazing city. Rich with culture and history. So overwhelming, yet so exciting. I was thrilled when a last-minute opportunity came up for a quick business trip to New Orleans. Although I was only visiting for all of about 24 hours (a decent amount of which was spent working), I still managed to get out to see the some of the sights. The French influence is evident within the architecture: the bright colors, beautiful balconies and lush plants and window boxes really make this area unique. And this streetcar…why can’t the MBTA in Boston be this cute?A visit to the Big Easy is never complete without popping over to the French Quarter for a stroll down Bourbon Street. With live music on every block, neon signs, and Mardi Gras colors abounding, the city really comes to life. With all of the hustle and bustle on a random Wednesday night, I can only imagine what this hotspot must be like on they actual day of Mardi Gras. (Although it did seem like the Pelicans game was definitely a reason for much of the partying!)Of course, as I quickly learned, a venture down Bourbon Street is nothing without a grab-and-go hurricane daquiri. Between the brain freeze and the 151 rum, a few sips was all I could handle.I would love to go back! Next on my list: National World War II Museum and the Garden District. Any other suggestions for great spots to visit in New Orleans? Let me know in the comments below!
