My Thoughts on Denim
I don’t wear denim very often. Actually, that’s a lie…I love my denim jacket, but I just don’t wear jeans very often. I’m not sure why, but until I was about 10 years old, I refused to wear jeans. Every single morning before school, I would put on a dress and tights. Are you surprised? I did wear jeans a lot throughout the middle school and high school but got away from them again in college. It seems silly that I shied away from an article of clothing that so many people consider a staple! Honestly, I just had a really hard time finding jeans that fit properly and were comfortable.
Lately, I’ve been starting to wear jeans more and more often! White and black denim have been my “go-tos” for when I want to wear pants, but now that I’ve found my new favorite Madewell jeans, well…let’s just say they are a total game changer!
Weekends Outdoors
More and more, I’ve been feeling the urge to get outside as much as possible. Maybe it’s the imminent turn of the season. Maybe it’s that the humidity is starting to die down, and we’ve already gotten a sneak preview of that crisp fall air. Whatever it is, I’ve been drawn to the great outdoors. Managing a full time job on top of this blog means that my weekdays are mostly spent inside in front of a computer. That means, on the weekends, I’ve just got to soak up every single free second of fresh air that I can. Plus, given that most of the weekday daylight hours are spent indoors, the weekends are when I take most of my blog photos!
This past weekend, we spent some time walking around a local farm and trying out a new camera lens! There were lots of trails for walking and farm animals to pet and feed. Cows, goats, pigs and llamas – I felt like a little kid visiting the fair again. It was just so fun. Plus, you know we ended the excursion with some ice cream cones!

Fortunately, I had the opportunity to try out the 9″ high-rise skinny jeans in hammond wash: drop-hem edition. They are so comfortable and they fit me so perfectly! Part of the reason I wasn’t a fan of jeans in the past was that they fit uncomfortably around my hips; however, these high waisted jeans make everything feel tucked away nicely while still having enough give in the material for movement. Madewell offers tall and taller options, which I definitely appreciate. Finding the right length of jeans can make all the difference, and the tall length was just perfect for me.
I have so many totes, cross body bags, clutches and other handbags. Too many to count, actually. For a while now, I had been wanting to get something a little more utilitarian like a chic backpack to wear on day trips. This way, I could pack it up with everything I need for the day without having all of the weight on just one shoulder. The soft, yet durable leather, as well as the organization pockets inside make the transport rucksack a sure winner!
The denim and leather combo was perfect for a visit to the farm!
What are your favorite denim pieces? I’d love to shop them!
