#ad I recently moved to the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts to be closer to my fiancé. The best part about this part of the state is the endless hiking trails with beautiful scenic vistas. Getting outdoors and grounding myself has been my saving grace for coping during stressful times. Having a beautiful place to go hiking or practice yoga definitely helps motivate me to stay active, and ultimately restore balance to my body and mind.
Specifically, that time of the month can really throw everything off. Not only can PMS make your body feel all out of whack, but it can sway your emotions all out of balance. For me, it’s more important to stay grounded during that time of the month through yoga, meditation, healthy eating, and proper sleep. But the best relief? Tried-and-true Midol® Complete to relieve cramping, bloating and fatigue, and coax everything back into balance. Purchase Midol® Complete On-The-Go Pouches at your local Target!
Here are my top 5 tips for staying grounded through stressful times, specifically during your period:
- Meditation: I like the free guided meditations on this app. It’s so important to keep your head right so you can think clearly to process information and generate solutions to all the obstacles life throws at you. Meditation is the best for reconnecting with your mind and overcoming difficult moods.
- Yoga: Since my local studio here in the Berkshires is closed because of coronavirus, I’ve been streaming their classes online. One benefit of the studio being closed is that it has given me a reason to practice in the great outdoors. Focusing on breath work goes a long way in grounding your body and mind. Yoga is the best for opening up a tense body and feeling grateful for everything the body can do – yes, even menstruation!
- Hiking: Something about that fresh mountain air immediately makes me feel better. Just getting up and moving seems to relieve PMS symptoms as well. Go hiking alone or grab a friend. My fiancé and I love to go together to keep each other motivated. A tough hike or even a brisk walk can get your endorphins pumping. There’s no better quick fix for a rough mood.
- Healthy Eating: This one is easier said than done, of course. Personally, I found that the first thing I eat in the morning sets the tone for my eating habits for the day. Fresh fruit and coconut yogurt, topped with granola is my first choice. I also love to make healthy snacks to have readily available for keeping myself going throughout the day. This is my favorite cookbook for easy meals and healthy snacks.
- Midol® Complete: On multi-symptom period days, it can be hard to be yourself. I know sometimes I just want to lay in bed watching a show, but Midol® Complete helps with everything – relieving bloating, cramping, fatigue, water retention, headache, and backache. It now comes in super convenient On-The-Go Pouches! Follow label instructions and use as directed.
Pick up Midol® Complete at your local Target, or order online through the app, like I do! I remember suffering as a teenager, and my mom gave me Midol®. I didn’t think anything could help me, but even back then I was amazed at how much Midol® Complete helped. And now, I love that I can purchase it in single packs to throw in my bag for on the go!
How do you stay grounded during that time of the month?
