This Week’s Cold Snap
Boston has been so cold lately that I just haven’t really been willing to do outfit shoots out in the cold. I’m talking temperatures hovering around or below zero degrees! Not fun at all. While on winter break, I had so much fun snuggling up inside and indulging in hot cocoa. How is it possible to do much of anything else? Even when I did go outside to run to and from the car, the cold was just so biting and brutal. It’s not even so much the cold that makes this season so harsh, but it’s the wind! Hearing it whip around the buildings and past the windows is actually so terrifying. Since we essentially got snowed in for two days last week, I tried making some frozen bubbles, but the wind was so intense that they just blew away before they could freeze. I got out of the city before the storm, but yesterday when I drove back in, I had to shovel out a parking spot and let me just say that I was exhausted after that. Good thing yesterday was a BBG rest day!
Today, I’m sharing these photos I took back in November when it was a bit warmer. Somehow they never made it to the blog earlier. Although this dress has been featured before (here), I think it works well paired with all back for these colder (gloomier?) months. And if you were eyeing this dress before but thought it was a bit too pricey, now is a great time to buy because it is over $100 off!
Outfit Details
Although this season makes me want to opt for dark neutrals (read: all the cozy sweaters I have) because they allow my mood to match the weather, I find it’s important to still add a few pops of color where you can. I love this poppy print by Kate Spade. It brings that perfect pop of color, without being too “loud” or too bold.
This is my first winter in Boston and boy, has it been challenging! The blizzard was also my first, and it was so cool seeing the storm come in through my apartment windows! Like being in a snow globe!
