With all the craziness this time of year in terms of holiday shopping, gift giving and party planning, it is so easy to lose perspective and get caught up in all the silliness. Believe me, I am absolutely one of the first to start listening to Christmas music and decorating for the holidays, but sometimes I find it important to reconnect with the real ideals of the Christmas season – not just the commercial ones. Growing up in a very Catholic family, this holiday means so much more to me than just exchanging gifts. Spending time with loved ones is, of course, important this time of year; however, I also believe that we should celebrate and express gratitude for all that we have.

Spending a weekend on Cape Cod was the perfect escape from the city (and from real life) to relax and reflect. Who says you can’t visit the beach in the winter? Personally, I find the beach particularly serene and calming when no other beach goers are there to inhibit the experience. I also find a visit to the beach to be a total sensory experience with the sound of the waves, the smell of the salt water and the completely breathtaking view of the horizon. It just can’t be beat.

How are you staying grounded this holiday season?

You are TOO cute and I am obsessed with that sweet hat (have had it on my wish list too!). As much as I crave summer, there are few things more peaceful to me than a winter walk on the beach 🙂

Staying grounded during the holiday season is so important to me too. The most important aspect of it all is spending time with loved ones, not the hustle and bustle and gifts (even though they are fun). Your hat is so cute girl, these pictures are lovely!

Great post. I’ve never thought of taking a Winter walk on the beach. I always picture the beach as a warm place. I guess you walking on the beach in the Winter is not much different than me walking thru a snow covered park in the Winter.

Cute outfit, love the hat or as we call it in Canada, a “Toque”
