Perfect Nighttime Look
This is the perfect velvet dress…for when you want to look cool, stay warm, be a little dressed up, but not look like you’re trying too hard. During this chilly season, I always find that it is hard to know exactly what to wear out at night. Thanks to Maggy London, I found the perfect versatile velvet dress. Here’s a look at how I styled it for a night out and about around San Francisco during our visit to the city a few weeks ago.
Velvet: The Trend of the Season
Velvet has been popping up everywhere over the last few months. My inner child is thrilled. I loved velvet as a little girl. I actually had a full two piece outfit: a little long sleeved top with buttons and a pair of leggings – in full on burgundy velvet. There was also one in purple I would wear sometimes, but it was definitely my second favorite. These little outfits were often worn on repeat because I loved them so much, so you might imagine how happy this little number makes me…and brings me right back to those days.
The Essentials: Leather Jacket + Booties
To immediately elevate any look, just add a leather jacket. This is especially useful for adding a cool-looking layer to your outfit in colder temperatures. Fortunately, I picked up this great open front leather jacket from Shopbop for the job. I already put it to good use for this look, and it has proven to be a very versatile and very useful addition to my wardrobe
Additionally, you’ll need a cool pair of booties! A slightly distressed pair like these from Free People is urban-chic in all the right ways. Plus, I have to say that these are SUPER comfy. I wore them walking around for hours on end without a single complaint!
