This post has been sponsored by American Greetings. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I LOVE Halloween, and I especially loved crafting these painted sugar skulls this year. It’s so much fun to dress up and be ANYONE or ANYTHING you want for a day. I know some people feel pressured by Halloween, but I just always thought it was so much fun. My mom used to set out cards and little goodies for my brother and sister and me when we woke up on Halloween (and other minor holidays). I looked forward to those little tokens SO much! It was just such a minute way to infuse some excitement into everyday life. And of course, I loved trick-or-treating and dressing up.
This year, my little sister is away at college and my bestie/college roomie just moved across the country to San Diego. I’m not going to lie, the changes in life do start to feel weird as I get older. Sometimes I really miss those days when we used to ALWAYS celebrate the little things. My bestie and I used to get cards and cupcakes and goodies for each other and leave them in the apartment on every little holiday. I think we were both raised by mothers who did that for us, and we wanted to continue the tradition in college.
This year I picked up a bunch of American Greetings Halloween cards from Star Market to continue the tradition. There was SUCH a good selection of cards and they are so reasonably priced, that I think I’ll be giving almost everyone in my life a Halloween card this year. It’s easy, it’s fun, so why not? If it will put a smile on their face, it’s worth it. The little things… am I right?
^^Honestly, I can’t resist a silly or punny card like this one. Too cute! I never opt for the serious cards – always something simple and funny! My sister always writes the MOST thoughtful cards – seriously I almost cry every time I get a card from her. I try to make mine just as special, but if you need some inspo for what to write – check out this site.
Since my sister and my bestie aren’t local I wanted to include a little something extra for them. I decided to get a little crafty and make these decorative sugar skulls for each of them.
It sounds silly, but I know a little handmade craft will really make them both smile. Since they’re both settling into a new location, I think a thoughtful gesture like this really helps — especially with a cute, quirky card.
FYI, you can get a deal on American Greetings through the Star Market mobile app. Just download it, and search out the coupon as I did below. And, if Halloween isn’t your thing, it never hurts to stock up on birthday cards, thank you cards or blank cards! All too often I find myself running out to the store at the very last minute on my way to an event looking for a card! It would certainly be nice to have a little stash at home to pull from. Visit your Star Market today for an in-store coupon offer to save $3 when you buy 2 American Greetings cards!
So, what are you doing for Halloween this year? I still need a costume, although I do have a few ideas so far…
