NYC Style Trends: 3 Looks

nyc style trends from fashion week 2018

This post is a little delayed – being a full-time student is no joke. I’m not sure why I thought it would be so easy, but it is a lot of work. The past six months have been a pretty intense crash course in time management skills. Anyway, I saw so many cool styles in New York City a couple weeks back (both on the street and on the runway), that I just had to share. I love watching the runway shows and presentations,  but even more so, I love seeing what everyone else is wearing. Fashion Week is really a great excuse for a street style runway show, which is part of what makes it so much fun! Fashion people love to experiment, and what I love about Fashion Week is that anything goes – truly anything! You’re free to express yourself however you see fit, however extreme it may be. I saw everything from brightly colored faux fur coats (so I fit right in with my pink fur) to orange top hats, from wonder woman jackets to monochromatic red vinyl outfits.

Keep scrolling to see the looks that I wore, a few stunning looks from my favorite show as well as a few key pieces I saw on the street that now I’m eyeing for my own wardrobe.

Look 1 Outfit Details:
Chanel sunnies || Floral moto bomber (this exact one isn’t available, but you can get similar options here, here and here) || Black turtleneck || Black high waisted denim || Suede over-the-knee boots || RealHer lipstick || Hammitt crossbody

I only went to a small handful of shows because I couldn’t miss too much class time! I know, I know… tough choice, right? Finance class or fashion week? Well, I went the high route and choose finance. I jetted down to NYC from Boston one Thursday afternoon and headed straight to the Pamella Rolland show, which I loved.

As a side note – if you’re going to NYC from Boston, it is SO easy to drive to Stamford and take the Metro North train from there! It’s only $10 a day to park in Stamford, and it is SO much easier and less stressful than taking the bus. Plus, it’s significantly cheaper than Amtrak!

Anyway, I shared a lot of the Pamella Rolland show on my stores, but I love the elevated feminine style of her collection. Some pieces I feel I could wear in my daily life, but there were some gorgeous gowns that I now am in dire need of a gala to go to so I can wear one!

The next day, I headed to the BCBGMAXAZEIA presentation, which was completely stunning! All of the pieces in the collection are totally wearable, and I could see myself incorporating almost every single piece into a look that fits my style.

I came across this in the pathway in Central Park, and I felt like it summed up my feelings toward Fashion Week. Just “imagine” any look and you can pull it off! I’m sure designers dream up concepts in their imaginations for their designs each season. It’s amazing to think that every look and design once came from a little dream. If you can imagine it, you can achieve it!

I’d been seeing cool moto jackets and floral bombers everywhere, so I knew this jacket would be perfect for me! Naturally, I love florals anyway and usually opt more toward feminine styles, but I love being able to incorporate edgier pieces. My personal style has shifted over the years from being totally feminine and girly to being slightly more edgy and trendy. That being said, I’d still consider myself 100% a girly girl.

How beautiful is this blush gown on the left? It’s what my girly girl dream are made of! You know I have a few particular colors that I always tend to opt for, so this gown certainly caught my eye. I also love the black and white striped shirt dress on the right – it would make for great office wear!

Okay my last two favorite to highlight: the black jumpsuit on the left and the windowpane coat on the right. Both are killer pieces that I would love to have in my wardrobe.

I was lucky enough to get to have my makeup done by Maybelline for an event to promote Maybelline’s bestie bundle. My makeup artist taught my so many tricks – especially abouthow to shape my eyebrows. Here are all the products she used on me:

Eyebrow pencil in medium brown || Python metallic lip kit in Valliant (on eyes) || Python metallic lip kit in Provoked (on eyes) || Python metallic lip kit in Provoked (on eyes) || SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Poet || SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Poet

Look 3 Outfit Details:
Pink faux fur (Amazon find – under $40!!) || Embroidered booties || Gray knit turtleneck || Black high waisted denim || Hammitt reversible leather crossbody || Pink mirrored sunnies

Just when you thought you had seen the last of the pink fur…you haven’t!! Frankly, I’m not quite sure why I’ve been so obsessed with it this winter. I bought it on a whim on Amazon before our trip to Charleston and have ended up wearing it almost once a week since. It’s just a nice, chic outer layer that works with our without my big puffer coat.

What I’m eyeing based on looks I saw on the street:

Red vinyl jackets || Berets || Embroidered shirtdresses || Circle bags || Striped jumpsuits || Embroidered booties

I’m not always one to jump on trendy pieces for fear that they’ll be out of style soon, but lately I’m having a much easier time deciding which trends I love and which ones are just a total miss for me.

What are your favorite trends right now?
