Thriving {Not Just Surviving}

thriving

Now that 2015 is more than halfway over, I want to check in with some of the goals I set for myself earlier this year. In February, I listed my reasons for writing this blog and what I aim to accomplish by doing so over the course of this year.

The Lilac Press has started to gain more traction in recent months, and as I start collaborating with others more often and pursing those areas of interest I enjoy most, it seems to be the right time to assess where I am going. Since February, my intentions for The Lilac Press haven’t really changed. I have, however, started to hone in more on what I enjoy posting about the most, namely in the areas of style, beauty and decor. I will likely continue developing in those areas, but I also aim to explore new topics as well.

One thing I have decided is that I want to thrive. I don’t want to just survive. I’ve noticed that those people who are thriving in their careers are truly passionate and excited about what they are doing, and they excel because they have the energy and motivation to give their work 110% all the time. Although I know I still have quite a ways to go in terms of really feeling like I’m thriving, I have learned a few tips along the way so far:

  1. Actually complete each “to do” list – don’t let unfinished items continually roll over to the next day (and the next day…).
  2. That being said – be flexible. Some things that are originally planned may no longer be relevant/appropriate/necessary. I’ve found on a few occasions that a post I had originally planned to write a few weeks prior just doesn’t seem like all that great of an idea anymore. Remove it from the “to do” list and move in.
  3. Give yourself credit for what has been done. Don’t dwell on what hasn’t been done in the past, and just keep moving forward.

What tips have you discovered to help you thrive? xo -L
