Striped linen dress | Red circle bag | Mirrored sunnies | Jack Rogers sandals
Stripes! The fashion community widely embraces stripes throughout various styles and seasons. Whether thick or thin, evenly spaced or varied thickness, I’ve long been drawn to stripes.
Sometimes stripes are a nod to nautical flair or they embody a French inspired look. When I studied abroad in France one summer, I came home with a suitcase full of striped tees and sweaters. Since then (or perhaps even before), I’ve had a penchant for stripes.
When one of my favorite bloggers, Rach Parcell of Pink Peonies, came out with a clothing line, I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some of these summer arrivals. This Americana striped dress has become a summer staple. It is super versatile: it can be worn to the office with a cardigan and flats, to a daytime cookout with simple sandals, or even to dinner and drinks with a fun pair of wedges.
In high school I volunteered as a candy striper in my local hospital. The uniform looked so much like this dress that every time I wear it I think about my candy striping days! We had to wear a striped vest with a white collared shirt and khaki pants. So classic.
I’d transport patients to and from different parts of the hospital or work as a cashier in the gift shop; but my favorite was delivering flowers and balloons to new babies.
Even though it has been cooling down quite a bit in recent weeks, I will definitely be wearing this dress as much as possible while summer lasts.
What is your favorite way to wear stripes?
