Spring Outfits Required

Spring is in the air! Well…sort of. The fact that it has actually snowed in the past week and we are now in the second half of April is a bit disappointing. Granted, that is certainly the nature (see what I did there…) of our dear old New England, but nevertheless, I think it is fair to say that we are all suffering from a bit of spring fever. Despite the weather, I’ve decided that spring outfits are necessary going forward. Florals, pretty pastels, and flowy dresses are in. Down parkas, chunky knits and snow boots are out.

Outfit Details:
Embroidered ruffled midi dress | Scalloped strap d’Orsay flats | Navy crossbody satchel (similar here, here and here) | Velvet hair bow

For my hairbow, I actually just picked up a spool of light pink velvet ribbon at a craft store and tied the bow. After pulling my hair half back, I just slid the knot of the bow onto a bobby pin and attached it.

Personal Style

It’s no secret that I’m what they call a “girly girl.” (Does anybody really know who “they” are?) Anyway, my personal style causes me to gravitate toward pink hues. Maybe you already knew that from my recent post featuring my living room, though. That being said, I suppose it really isn’t a shock to anyone that when pulling my own personal spring outfits for this season, I picked out this pretty pink embroidered and ruffled dress. I love shopping at Asos because of their reasonable price point, and I recently found a couple of great, versatile pieces for my spring wardrobe, e.g., this $29 dress (no lie) I featured in my last post!

My Tips For Pulling Together Spring Outfits

One // Think versatile! What I love about the featured midi dress is that worn alone, it can be quite dressy and work for warmer weather. When it’s a bit chilly, I can throw on a denim jacket, which will dress it down and make the whole look more appropriate for casual occasions.

Two // Think color! While I want you to feel comfortable sticking to your personal style and feeling good in your spring outfits, it is the season of pretty pastels after all. Ditching the dark, subdued tones of winter for bright colors and patterns can provide an almost instantaneous mood booster. Even if it still cold and gray outside and you do need that extra jacket, having a springtime look underneath will do you good.

Three // Make a list! Keep a running note in your phone or journal of things you need (new rainboots, work wear, etc.) so that you can shop around to find the best pieces at the best prices. If shopping online, use search filters to quickly find your desired piece.

Four // Shop your own closet! You likely already own at least one of these five timeless spring trends,  so take stock of those pieces you’ve been overlooking. You may not even need to spend anything to pull together some refreshed spring outfits – just dust off that old jean jacket and last year’s espadrilles you had forgotten about.

Stay with me because we are almost through the brutal New England winter for real. Spring, we are ready for you!
