Okay, time is flying by way too quickly. Ever since I started school again, I really have been focusing on making use of every single hour I have free. When I was working full-time, it was easy to fall into the rhythm of the culture of the company. Now, however, I am completely responsible for managing my own time. It is both a great challenge but also a great freedom.
If I’m being completely honest, it can be tempting to schedule more lunch and dinner dates with friends, watch Netflix or otherwise let that time pass in ways other than work or school. While I think it can be good to give into that temptation from time to time, I have had to really re-learn how to prioritize.
I’m a little delayed with all my NYFW posts due to my focus on grad school, but this look was definitely one of my faves. This floral dress was surprisingly versatile. I wore it out and about all day around the city, walking around in the hot sun. It is super lightweight and breathable, which made it a great choice for these warm in-between days, when it’s not quite summer anymore, but not quite fall yet either.
I paired it first with these silvery gray velvet mules for a more casual look, and because they have a lower heel for all the walking around we did. Later in the day, I switched to these red suede mules when I wanted to make a statement.
I could even picture this look (probably with the gray mules) paired with my leather moto jacket for a chillier evening out on the town.
I had the chance to stop by the gorgeous Frances Valentine showroom. You may have seen a little behind-the-scenes action on my Instagram stories, but I wish I could put into words just how beautiful the showroom is. Two story windows of light beaming onto gleaming hardwood floors and the most unique, on-trend and colorful art collection adorning the walls, are just a few descriptions to start.
I was even lucky enough to leave with this gorgeous leather tote that provided the perfect complementary color to my dress. The roomy tote, which also works as a crossbody/messenger bag, was great for stowing my camera, laptop, and other daily essentials. I’ve been loving it for throwing notebooks in to take to class on a daily basis as well.
This look, as well as another lightweight/sheer look, were great options for these tricky in-between days.
How are you managing your summer-to-fall wardrobe transition?
