Late Nights Absolutely Require Micellar Water
Let’s face it – at the end of a long day, it can be oh-so-tempting to just crawl into your ultra-cozy bed. For me personally, as soon as I lay down….that’s it. It’s over. The night’s canceled, and I’m out like a light. Some nights, it can take every last ounce of remaining willpower to crawl to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. As soon as I come in at night, I like to immediately change into my pajamas and wash up….just in case I fall asleep.
There’s truly no worse feeling than waking up around 3am and realizing you never took off your makeup. It feels dry and crusty and smeared all over. Sorry for the gross visual… but seriously, it’s no fun! That’s why I keep a bottle of micellar water and cotton pads either next to my bed or in the bathroom. I can take off my make-up in 30 seconds flat – without any harsh rubbing or rinsing! No rinse?! Yes, you read that right. This was especially nice for me because, in the past, I have been the QUEEN of splashing a big watery mess all around the bathroom when washing my face. Well, no more!
All you have to do is soak a cotton pad in micellar water, place over your eyelid for about 5 seconds to let it work, and then wipe! Repeat for each eye, and then use a clean cotton pad to wipe all over face. I like to go over my skin a second time just to make sure I got every last trace. It’s as simple as that, and you’re ready for bed! My personal favorite micellar is the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water for All Skin Types (the one with the pink cap)! As an extra bonus, use code GRNSAVE2 for $2.00 any Garnier micellar water from Ulta Beauty (excluding travel size).
Make Time for Self-Care
All those late nights I mentioned above? Yeah, they can take a toll over time. That’s why it is so important for me to take time for self-care every once in a while. Self-care means something different for everyone, but anything that helps you to feel refreshed and recharged is good self-care practice! For me, that means staying in, ordering my favorite snacks (ahem – pizza!!!) and doing a little at-home spa treatment. I love to take care of my skin with masks, lotions and creams, but that all has to start with clean skin! Enter – Garnier micellar water! I always start my self-care rituals by cleansing my skin with micellar water.
Ever heard of double cleansing? Sometimes, I’m in the mood to really wash my face with an exfoliant or foaming cleanser, but afterward, I still often like to “double-cleanse” by swiping a cotton pad with micellar water across my face. This just helps to be extra certain there are no traces of cleanser residue left behind. Then, I’m truly ready to start masking!
Stay Fresh Throughout the Day
Do you ever feel like your skin gets a little dull and dry throughout the day? Sometimes, usually in the afternoons, I’ll catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I’ll just look…a bit haggard…. I know, I know….I’m my own worst critic, but it IS true that we never look as fresh as we did when we first put our make up on in the morning. To combat this dull feeling, I’ve come to love Garnier SkinActive Soothing Facial Mist with Rose Water to freshen up throughout the day. Stopping to make sure I’m feeling good and revitalized helps me to go longer in between my self-care sessions, because let’s face it, none of us take time out for ourselves as often as we should!!
I’ve been using micellar water to take off my makeup before bed for YEARS. I discovered this magical little potion my senior year of college, and I’ve kept it around ever since. I bring small bottles when I travel and I keep big bottles at my apartment, at my parents’ house and my boyfriend’s out in the Berkshires since I’m often bouncing around between all those spots. And, like I said, there’s nothing worse than waking up and realizing you didn’t properly take off your makeup!
Don’t forget to use promo code GRNSAVE2 at Ulta.com for $2.00 off any micellar (excluding travel size)!
Also – be sure to make time for your own self-care ritual!
