Moscow mules are a refreshing classic. Mint, ginger and citrus are some of my favorite flavors, so combining them together in a cocktail is truly invigorating. I love how the freshness of the mint balances the spicy ginger beer for an exquisite burst of flavor. Adding a fruity twist to this classic cocktail makes for the ultimate summer refreshment. These Old Kentucky copper mugs are a must as well. The copper keeps the beverage colder longer, making them ideal for enjoying a frosty drink on a summer afternoon in the sun.
The recipe:
1/2 cup honeydew melon, diced
1/2 lime, juiced
2 sprigs of mint
3 oz. vodka
1/2 cup ginger beer
- Muddle diced melon, lime juice and mint in a cocktail shaker
- Add vodka and fill the shaker with ice
- Shake until well chilled – you’ll know when water starts condensing on the outside of the shaker
- Pour the drink through the strainer into copper mugs filled with ice
- Top with ginger beer to taste – be careful not to go overboard if you don’t like too much spice
- Garnish with mint leaf and melon slice
Enjoy!
I’ve never thought of switching up what kind of “mule” it is 🙂 I love melon, it’s a perfect summertime drink! I’ll have to give these a try this weekend.
You should definitely try it! I hope you like it 🙂
