Lilac Season

The Happiest Time of Year

Spring is officially here! And that means lilac season is almost upon us. Lilacs have long been my favorite flower, both for their pink and purple hues as well as for their glorious fragrance. The lilac, after which this blog is named, is near and dear to my heart for the role in played during my childhood (think lots of lilacs at my grandparents home and even more when my family finally settled into the house I would grow up in when I was eight).

This season, lilac as a color has been all over the place, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The shade is both calming and cheerful, making it the perfect spring poster child. No matter what you are going through or what obstacles in life you are trying to conquer at the present, there is no doubt that the springtime brings a new appreciation of beauty and gratitude for nature’s offerings. The trees will start to bud, the grass will start to become greener and the flowers will bloom. If the scent of a fresh lilac doesn’t bring a smile to your face, I don’t know what will!

Spring Trend: Off-the-Shoulder

One trend I’ve finally gotten on board with is the off-the-shoulder look. I admit that I wasn’t all that into this look last year; I thought it was a fad that really wouldn’t stick around. I was afraid I would look back on photos from last spring and wonder what I was thinking! That being said, the OTS trend has withstood the test of time for another year and is here to stay…and I’ve finally gotten on board. When I saw this little number from Club Monaco hanging up in the store in my favorite color, I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist it. Just take a peek at those bell sleeves with the cut outs and bows…can you even stand it?!
