Leather and lace…a contrasting combination of a charming, feminine aesthetic and edgy, rugged qualities. I love to pair pieces together that might not normally go together. A great time to experiment with unexpected combinations is when the temperature starts to drop. Layering is essential to stay warm, so sometimes we’ve got to get a bit creative with our wardrobes. I originally hadn’t planned on wearing this leather jacket over this lace dress, but since NYC had a chill in the air – it was a perfect way keep warm.
You might’ve seen the tote I featured here, but I visited the gorgeous Frances Valentine showroom while in NYC. I picked up this cute calf hair crossbody as well as these statement-making Mary Janes.
The thing I loved most about this entire look is the mixing of textures: lace, soft leather, snakeskin leather and calf hair. All these features make for an outfit with a lot of visual interest.
^^I’ve said it before, and I stand by it. The power of a little lip color is amazing. It can do wonders for your confidence and self-esteem. Although I love to try different colors, a classic red is always a solid choice.
How are you mixing textures this fall? Is leather and lace a combo often found in your wardrobe?
