It’s the most festive time of year! I think everyone can agree that the holiday cheer in the air this time of year can brighten any spirit. Personally, I love all the reds and greens and silvers and golds characteristic of the decor this time of year. Somehow, Christmastime is able to be both glamorous yet cozy, magical yet comforting.
Whatever you’ve got on the agenda this month, you are surely in need of a festive holiday look! Between office holiday parties, end-of-the-year celebrations, family gatherings and cocktail parties with friends, you’ve got to look the part.
I’ve been lucky enough to team up again with Hair Cuttery again this year to try out a fun holiday hairstyle. I almost always go for loose curls or waves (like I did here), but I wanted something a little different this time around.
Drawing inspiration from this bow I picked up recently and my love of braids, I headed over to the Burlington salon to see my stylist, Nicole. Together, we decided on a fluffy braided look pulled back into a low ponytail. Nicole always just gets the look I’m going for and pulled this one off with out a hitch.
Keep scrolling to see the process in action!
Although Nicole makes this look super complicated, its easy to do at home too. Just make a loose braid with one-inch strands of hair on either side of your head. Then, crisscross the braids at the nape of the neck and pin. You can either choose to pull the hair into a ponytail or you can just keep criss-crossing and pinning pieces to create a more woven look, like Nicole did! Or, of course you can pop into your local Hair Cuttery to get this look.
As if on cue, the first snowfall of the season started while I was in the salon. Stepping out into those fresh snowflakes was truly magical. After my appointment, we popped over to the local Christmas tree farm to check out the selection of holiday decor. By this time, the snowfall started to really pick up and we got a few fun shots in the midst of it.
I’m definitely planning to recreate this holiday hairstyle for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. And you can too! I’d love to see your pictures if you give it a shot. Just tag me on social media, and I’ll keep an eye out 🙂

Ok your hair looks amazing!! I love the bow and that braid! And I swear some of the chain salons are better than the fancy ones- I go to the SuperCuts on Cambridge street ( but you have to see Robert) and its the best haircut I’ve ever had!

This is so beautiful! I love the braid and especially that bow, what a festive photo. I had to save this for hair inspiration, I hardly ever style mine because I’m terrible at it but I’d like to give it another go! Have a great week 🙂

You should totally try it! It isn’t hard – the trick is a lot of bobby pins 😉 Oh! and some hairspray!
