As much as I love to be warm in the winter, I struggle with the itchiness of wool. For me to be able to wear a wool scarf around my neck for an extended period of time, it had better be especially soft and gentle on the skin (like my Three Sheep Shack scarf).
Last year at the Fall Apple Squeeze, I discovered Grass Hill Alpacas and bought a beautiful pair of super soft boucle lined alpaca wool mittens. Those mittens saved me last winter, and I really think they were the reason I survived my commute to and from work each day in the freezing temperatures. I found myself walking four miles to work on occasion when the subway shutdown and Ubers were unavailable, and I needed these mittens on those days.
At this year’s event, I was determined to find the same booth again to go back for some more alpaca wool goods. I chose the ribbed knit scarf and heirloom cable knit beanie in white from their catalog of winter staples (the socks look perfect for cozy winter nights by the fire or a day on the slopes). Even before November hits, I’ve found plenty of use for my luxurious hat and scarf. This past weekend was a bit chilly, and I couldn’t wait to bundle up for walk in the park!

Have you ever tried alpaca wool?

These fall photos are just adorable! I love the look of an olive quilted jacket with riding boots, so classic for fall!
