Fresh blooms: is there anything better?! Fresh flowers are my favorite. I truly believe that no matter what is going on in your life, a bouquet of vibrant blooms is one of the best ways to provide perspective and happiness. Flowers are an instant mood booster and a reminder of the all the beauty present in the crazy world we live in. When we drove up to Wicked Tulips Flower Farm, I was instantly overwhelmed with excitement and so happy that we made the trip to Rhode Island from Boston.

A few weeks back, I heard through a friend that a tulip farm was opening in New England – and that it would be modeled after the the sprawling flower gardens of the Netherlands. I immediately knew what my next road trip would be. The best part? The pick-your-own tulip field for $1 per stem. The farm has a beautiful show garden where all the varietals are labeled and grouped together in addition to a large field of tulips just for picking!

The field has been so popular that tickets completely sold out the first weekend, and unfortunately, I missed them. I went the second weekend the farm was open, and believe it or not, but the vast majority of the flowers had already been picked!! I did get some great blooms (just in time for Mother’s Day), but next year I will be sure to make the trip for opening weekend.

Even though it’s springtime in New England, the weather can still be quite fickle. Due to lots of rain the week prior, the field was muddy…I mean really muddy. Wellies, like my Hunters, were essential for trudging through. I was nervous the sky was going to open up on us again – it was looking pretty ominous – so I threw on my new favorite blush trench coat. I stayed warm with an extra layer while we explored and filled our basket up with tulips!

Has anyone ever visited the Netherlands? How do these tulips compare?!
