Favorite New Hair Products with Cibu

 

Healthy Hair Requires Proper Care

As a self-proclaimed beauty junkie, I absolutely love trying out new brands and products. Whether it’s hair care, skin care, makeup or fragrance, I enjoy exploring what the market has to offer. In fact, my dad used to call my mom and I the “drugstore beauty queens”  because we’d always come back from a trip to the drugstore with a bag full of new products to try!

Over time I’ve been able to perfect my hair care routine with a focus on nourishing and protecting my hair. After years of using harsh shampoos and heat tools, I’ve been seriously paring back the damage. I read once a long time ago, that you should treat your hair like delicate lace, and that has always stuck with me. I try to avoid heat tools as much as possible, and instead opt for braids or top knots on days when I don’t feel my hair needs to be perfect. However, I do still blow dry and then curl or straighten my hair a couple of times a week.

Now more than ever, I am extra conscious of the quality of products I use in my hair. Recently, I was introduced to a fabulous line of hair products called Cibu by Hair Cuttery. I’ve been using these products for a few weeks now, and I am excited to share my experience with you!

 

 

Start with Clean Hair

Ever since I made a promise to myself that I would wash my hair no more than every other day, I like to make each wash count. For me, a shampoo must clarify my hair of product buildup (hairspray, dry shampoo, etc), nourish my hair, and leave it feeling soft and silky. The Cibu Smooth shampoo and conditioner duo do just that and leave my hair feeling unbelievably touchable and as the name suggests – smooth. Cibu shampoos are sulfate free and the conditioners are paraben free, which is really important because there’s no need for harsh detergents and/or preservatives. Plus, even without these chemicals, I don’t feel like there is ever any oily residue from the conditioner (which seems to happen with some) and that means my hair stays cleaner longer! Also, the scent is light and fresh, but not overpowering (another important factor for me).

 

 

^^I love the Shimmer Smoothing Cream because it acts as a leave-in conditioner with coconut oil and Argan oil. It is great for both a pre-blow dry heat protectant or as an air dry cream to reduce frizz while hair dries naturally. I try to let my hair air dry as often as I can, so this product has become a fast favorite in my arsenal.

 

 

^^My hair is naturally fairly straight, with a few soft waves, which usually means it ends up with a little bit of frizz. I usually do curl my hair – especially since my curls start to fall out with even the slightest bit of humidity, and I just end up with the loose waves I’m looking for. When I straighten my hair; however, it doesn’t really stay straight. I almost never bother to straighten it! With the FrizzFix Straightening Balm + Keratin, my hair really does seem immune to the humidity and will stay straight and silky all day long.

 

 

Argan Oil (Shine Squad)

One ingredient I look for in hair products is Argan oil. Sometimes, Argan oil alone can feel too greasy, but when either used very sparingly or blended into another product, it can add that much needed nourishing boost for thirsty hair. My favorite product line in the Cibu collection is the Shine Squad line. Specifically, my favorite is the Shine Squad Argan Oil Mist. It is a super lightweight all purpose serum that can be used on wet or dry hair. I love that I can spray it on and my hair never ends up greasy. Plus is smells amazing! Now that I’ve been using this mist for awhile, I don’t think I could live without it.

For a deeper moisture treatment, I also love the Shine Squad Argan Oil Treatment because it can also be used for skin care to seal in moisture – a necessity for these dry New England winters!
