Have you ever considered a virtual closet? In 2020 and the age of Instagram, who is wearing the same thing more than once? Most certainly not for multiple Instagram posts! While I’ve adopted more of a laissez-faire attitude toward my Instagram – posting what I want when I feel like it instead of the highly curated and planned content I used to share – I still love new clothes (and sharing them on Instagram). I always have, and I KNOW I’m not unique in this. This year, I’m moving toward more fashion rentals.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I always love a new outfit. Like it or not, what you’re wearing sends a message to the world. How you present yourself, whether your clothing is in good condition and good quality, is important. But more than that, fashion is a form of self-expression, a creative process I enjoy indulging in each morning when getting dressed.
Unfortunately, for me, there comes some guilt about constantly buying new clothes. Of course, there is the spending. But there’s also the environmental impact of fast fashion and issues of space as all that “stuff” starts to accumulate. While I enjoy having a large selection to choose from, I do feel a sense of guilt when I look at all the material things I’ve accumulated over time. Do I really need it all? The answer is always no. I’ve tried to remedy this by selling a lot of my old clothes on Poshmark or local consignment stores, as I find this to be an efficient way to redistribute each piece to someone who actually wants it and will wear/use it. In any case, I’ve found it so important to purge my closet regularly to avoid overwhelm.
I’ve also focused on only buying higher-quality pieces, investing in items that I will actually wear multiple times while purging my closet of things I don’t wear. The result is that I’m constantly upgrading my closet and avoiding it ballooning out of control.
Keeping these high-quality staples in mind, I’m still looking to regularly wear new and different pieces. Enter: Haverdash. Haverdash is a fun way to change outfits and clothes as often as you want. While you can continue to invest in a high-quality capsule wardrobe, Haverdash offers those pieces that are impractical to own, that add flair and fun, without the commitment and expense. Haverdash believes you should fully, utterly and without reservation enjoy fashion.
For my first shipment, I chose an ultra cozy-chic French Connection sweater and Crescent wide-leg cropped trousers. I chose to style this look back to a pair of statement snakeskin print Ganni boots I invested in last year and a classic black crossbody.
I also grabbed a cute sweater dress from my recent trip to Canada and a faux fur star print coat for cozy snow days. Click here to try it for yourself!
Thank you to Haverdash for the trial! Try it for yourself here.
Love love this! Such a good idea
