A Little Life Update
Welcome back! To everyone who noticed that I took a little hiatus, I sincerely apologize. I love having The Lilac Press as an outlet to share my favorite outfits and beauty tips, and I do my best to hold myself accountable. Unfortunately, sometimes life just gets the best of me! Truth be told, grad school is much more demanding than I had originally anticipated. Putting school first has to be my priority, and I know TLP will, of course, be there when I am done. Between school work, holding down a part-time job, and maintaining TLP, I’ve been quite busy and I truly hate that I had to prioritize other things over my favorite lovely space amidst the interwebs.
Now that midterms have passed, I anticipate getting back into the swing of things a bit more. Finals are coming up, and April is looming large on the horizon. That being said, once April is done, I have quite a few exciting things lined up and I am SO excited to share them all with you. More to come on that front shortly.
The below photos are a few outfits I’ve been wearing during this very wintry “spring” this season. My boyfriend and I spend a few days in the Berkshires and then a few days in Cape Cod just to try to relax a bit. Honestly, escaping the demands of the city and the daily grind to enjoy Mother Nature a bit was just what I needed.
It has been a struggle to dress for the weather when it is so cold and snowy, but I’m ready for spring. Here, I’m incorporating pastels and bright colors for a little uplifting vibe on grey, dreary days.
Outfit #1 Details:
Oversize sweater sweater (similar here) || Dark wash skinny denim || Heavyweight parka || Camp socks // Eastland Charlotte Boot (in peanut)
A snowy hike in the mountains can be one of the most breathtaking activities because 1) it is so beautiful and 2) it is physically difficult – ha! We had so much fun and ran into quite a few pups who were soaking up their time out in the snow. For the hike, I tried my hand at a new hairstyle that was trendy during fashion week this year – the infinity dutch braid. Have you given this look a shot yet?
Outfit #2 Details:
Pink faux fur || High waisted black denim || Eastland Charlotte boot in peanut || Frill neck bell sleeve sweater || Pink pyramid wristlet || Camp socks
Endless Winter
Our escpades in the snowy Berkshires did not stop with our hike. It continued to snow and although it was chilly, it was just so pretty that it is hard to be upset about it. James Taylor is credited with saying it, but it really is “dreamlike frosting.”
My boyfriend and I love exploring and finding new hidden gems out there – and there are SO many! Recently we decided to check out the Wheatleigh Hotel. Talk about a mansion.
After getting our fill of the snowy Berkshires, we headed to Cape Cod for a cozy weekend in. We had a true little tour of Massachusetts. Have you guys tried these two-ingredient bagels? They are quite impressive, and each time I make them my mind is blown that these two simple ingredients can make such a delicious dough. I made three batches while we were on the Cape, and each day Bishir and I ate two bagels – EACH. They were that good.
Outfit #3 Details:
Weekends sweater || Medium wash skinny jeans
^^Couldn’t resist lounging around, eating bagels in my cozy-chic “weekends sweater.”
Outfit #4 Details:
Purple puffer || Dark wash skinny jeans || Raspberry Hunter boots || Cateye sunnies || Knit beanie with fur pom || Cozy turtleneck
What is a visit to Cape Cod without a trip to the beach? Even though it was cold (read: windy and bitingly freezing ), we took a few walks along the beach. The ocean can be so humbling because even though it is gentle and welcoming in the summer, it can be brutally rough and overwhelming on a windy, stormy day.
We had so much fun running from the wind and daring each other to run into the water. It may have been frigid, but we surely weren’t miserable.
I’m sorry for the delayed post, but I’ve had to focus a little extra hard these past few week on my studies. But, the regularly scheduled programming will be back very soon.
Happy Spring 😉
