DIY Valentine’s Day Hot Cocoa Bar

Valentines Day Hot Cocoa Bar

2018 is already flying by! Can you believe that we are just about 1/12 of the way done with the year? Where does the time go? As we say goodbye to January, it, of course, means that we are that much closer to warm spring weather, but it also means one of my very favorite holidays is here! Since I was a little girl it was always such a fun day, full of love and sugary treats! My mom would always give my brother and sister and me Valentine’s Day cards and a small gift, like heart pencils to use in school that day or a pretty new hair barrette. Well, my brother probably got a toy car or something, but I don’t really remember…

Over the years, every Valentine’s Day has been a celebration of love! Whether I’ve been in a relationship or not, it is nice to show the people you love how much you really care! My best friend and I actually had a standing Valentine’s Day date at a chocolate bar for a couple of years before we were both in relationships.

This year, I’ve decided to put together a little Valentine’s Day hot cocoa bar to celebrate! It’s perfect for a Galentine’s day celebration with all your favorite ladies, or just to treat that someone special.

Here’s what you’ll need:

For the goodies:
Crockpot
Ingredients for slow cooker hot chocolate (I like this recipe)
Pretzel rods & white chocolate chips
Lollipop sticks, jumbo marshmallows & semi-sweet chocolate chips
Lots of pink & red heart sprinkles like these and these
Add-ins like sweetheart candies & mini marshmallows and strawberry marshmallows (or try making your own cinnamon marshmallows)
Gold cutlery
Ladle

Decor:
Heart string lights (like these and these)
Glass dishes
Pretty mugs (and matching plates)
Bar cart
Marble serving stand
Wall decor

Who doesn’t love chocolate, am I right? And anyone who claims otherwise has got to be lying. A crockpot recipe is so easy because you can just throw all the ingredients in and turn it on. Plus, it keeps warm for hours, so your guests can serve themselves as they please. I chose to make some chocolate covered marshmallow lollipops, as well as white chocolate, covered pretzel rods. Click to play the video below to see how I did it.

To add even more sugary goodness to your spread, try my favorite cinnamon doughnuts. These are some of my absolute favorite baked goods to make (and one of my first posts back in the early days of TLP)! Pro tip: make them glazed! And, if you are really determined to impress your guests, make your own pink cinnamon marshmallows. This recipe is actually so much easier than it looks, and the cinnamon flavor is perfection. Plus, set out the leftover candy hearts as hot cocoa toppings!

Be sure to spread love this Valentine’s Day! Whether you want to shower that someone special with gifts or make some goodies for your coworkers or host a DIY Galentine’s/Valentine’s day hot cocoa bar, have fun with it! I’ll be eating my fair share of sugar of course, but hey, that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?

How will you be celebrating this year?

xo
