Your Handbag is an Extension of You
A handbag is a woman’s lifeline; her carrier of essentials, and her safety net with supplies in the case of any emergency. I know all you ladies out there (and many men too) fall into the habit of just tossing anything and everything you need into your handbag. We bring this one accessory everywhere with us, so it is important that our bags (truly an extension of our person) represent who we are and the impression we are giving off to the world!
For an accessory that is such an integral part of my daily life, coming and going with me through countless errands, meetings and events, I wanted a bag that would be meaningful to me and show off my creative side. I throw everything in my bag from chargers (at least three different kinds) to snacks, from loose change to extra makeup (lipstick and chapstick and lip liner and lip gloss…), notebooks, spare pens, bobby pins, hair ties…the list goes on and on.
Get Creative
It’s inevitable that you’ve got to do something fun for yourself from time to time! Many of us love a little retail therapy, but why not make it a creative experience? At O bag Boston, you can take just a few moments out of your day to customize a bag that truly represents your personality and creativity. Fashion should be fun, and accessories are no exception! O bag offers the opportunity to choose the perfect color combinations and textures that allow each customer to create something unique.
Come on in with me, and I’ll show you around…
There are endless styles, shapes, color combinations and accessories. You might have seen this one I originally fell in love with here. With so many options, sometimes a little inspiration can help! Upon first walking into the store, you will absolutely be inspired to create a beautiful custom design of your own.
Whether you are looking for something colorful and bright or a bit more subdued, O bag Boston has all the options. During my recent visit to the store, I opted for a navy blue tote that I’d be able to either liven up with vibrant accessories or tone down with neutrals depending on the day.
Each bag has a lining to help you stay organized. The linings also zip so that you can keep all those essentials inside your tote nice and securely. A zipper is a must for me – ever knock over an open bag in public? Cleaning up the contents is not fun. The store stocks lots of simple and plain linings as well as fun printed options like the one I chose!
Since we’re still in the thick of winter, some of the most popular accessories right now are these faux fur trim pieces. Although I was tempted by the bold animal stripes and rich colors, naturally, I opted for the gorgeous neutral chinchilla.
The handles are interchangeable as well. They just screw in – it could not be any easier! For this blue bag, I might remove the fur once the weather warms up to make it more seasonably appropriate. To take it a step further, I might even swap out these handles for a lighter option for the summer. A nice white rope handle would give this same bag a totally different vibe and allow me to stretch it across all seasons. These bags really will take you through the whole year – read more about their durability here. Plus, another shopping trip to the Newbury Street or Burlington Mall stores to swap out accessories is always a welcome opportunity.
Don’t forget the trend of the season – a fun fur pom pom. And you’re good to go!
Art Week Boston
O bag Boston has an exciting event lined up for the coming season – and I’m inviting you! O bag will be featured during Art Week Boston this coming April, and I will be onsite to help guests pick out their own custom O bag that not only suits their practical needs, but also speaks to their creative side. I’ll be helping each guest build their very own wearable work of art. I hope that you will join me! Be sure to save the date (April 29th) and reserve your spot by registering here (registration is free, but space is limited). See you there!
Thanks for coming along on my little adventure to create the perfect tote!

Wow, this idea is really outstanding! I have to admit I never designed my own bag – only my own clothes 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

If I could get to design my own rucksack that would be good. I can’t wear handbags, they hurt my shoulders

I totally get what you mean! Too much weight on just one shoulder is never good! I often carry two laptops in my bag, and I know that is just bad news for my back!
That would be such a cool experience! And I LOVE the way your bag turned out!!
