After a whirlwind of a few weeks, my head just wasn’t in the game. I needed some time to clear my mind and get away from the city. Hiking (a small part of) Mt. Greylock in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts was the best escape. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and actually quite humbling. When you’re up that high and looking down at the little towns below, it’s easier to put life in perspective. We all get caught up in the subtle and insignificant nuances of every day life that taking a step back to see the big picture every once in a while is so important. Not to mention, it felt so good to breathe in really clean, really crisp mountain air.
The air was very cool, and I stayed warm and cozy in my new favorite sweater. It’s just so cuddly that I think it’s safe to say I’ll be wearing it a lot this season. I’ve already worn it more often than I care to admit.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the best hiking shoes, but these Sam Edelman flats are so comfy and surprisingly durable. They’re a great staple shoe, especially because they come in every color imaginable. Fortunately, we drove to the summit of the mountain and just walked along some of the trails near the top. The wildflowers up there though…I couldn’t get enough. The purples and pinks and yellows were incredible.
I know where I’m going next time I need an escape.
