Stay Comfortable While Traveling

My biggest concern while traveling, after making sure I didn’t forget anything, is being comfortable while in transit! I’m the worst packer. I mean that in terms of over packing. Usually, I’ll have all my outfits planned out for the trip, down to the accessories. For me, I actually find the process of trying on outfits ahead of time to be stress relieving. For one, I enjoy the creative process of putting outfits together, but I also find a sense of calm in having everything I will wear on a trip decided ahead of time. It’s the same sort of sense of relief I have when picking out my outfit for the work day the night before. Just knowing I won’t have to deal with it in the morning frees up that worry in my brain for other concerns.

So, after I’ve picked out my clothes, tried to stuff them all in my suitcase, couldn’t zip it, gave up and removed a few of those “just in case” pieces to free up some space, it usually ends up being time to leave. And that leaves me with one final dilemma – what to wear on the actual plane/train/bus/boat! I used to just end up wearing something that I’d already removed from my suitcase or choosing an outfit that was too warm or too cold. There’s nothing worse than being too chilly on an airplane!

Now, I pick out my travel outfit first! Here’s what I look for in choosing my travel style:

ONE // Warmth

Why are planes and trains always so chilly? I always travel with layers and long sleeves like this cozy cashmere or this embroidered sweatshirt. Besides, it is easier to get some in transit shuteye when you’re nice and cozy warm.

TWO // Comfortable, but not frumpy

Sitting in the same contained position on hours on end definitely calls for comfy clothes! It’s easy to just opt for sweats, but I find that can make me feel frumpy. Wearing something comfy chic (think a casual coffee date with girlfriends) can make you feel a bit more put together. Jeans or leggings paired with a stylish sweater can help elevate your travel style and allow you to deplane feeling confident and ready to take on your next adventure!

I looove that sweatshirt! I’m traveling to Europe at the end of next month and my favorite travel leggings just ripped…definitely going to have to replace those before the trip. I’m all about comfort for traveling too, especially when logging 12-20 hours of travel time!
