Le Café. Cup o’ Joe. Java. Whatever you call it, most (definitely not all though!) of us in the working world swear by it to keep alert, focused, and sometimes just awake throughout the day. Personally, I loved the taste of coffee. Whether its a warm latte on a chilly morning or a refreshing iced coffee as a pick-me-up in the afternoon, I love it in every way. Including just the pure taste of it – just black. Don’t let anyone tell you its bad for you – its essential! The key is not to go overboard. I repeat, do not overdo it. You will be shaky and anxious and thinking that something is wrong with your heart because it keeps skipping a beat (or maybe that’s just me..?!). When you have too much in your system is when its not good for you. What is that little mantra that has been beaten into the ground for ages? Oh yeah… everything in moderation. It’s true!
Personally, I like to try to skip the morning coffee, especially if I’m feeling alert after a good night’s rest. I like to have a coffee just after lunchtime when I know ill get heavy eyelids and have to push through the afternoon to remain productive. The caffeine boost is a must.
Just as an added reinforcement of the beauty of this fine beverage, I’ve included some of its known benefits: According to this interesting article, coffee can provide the body with some quite noteworthy benefits. I’ve highlighted a few here:
- Boosts metabolism and can possibly increase the burning of fat!
- Associated with lower risk of diseases (just to name a few!):
- Type 2 diabetes
- Parkinson’s disease
- Dementia
- Certain cancers
- Cirrhosis, which can be caused by several diseases that affect the liver
- Coffee is full of antioxidants to protect our cells from free radical damage
Bottom Line: I will happily continue on with my coffee drinking habits – guilt free!! (Well, aside from those rising costs of $4.00+ per day – eek!)
I hope you enjoy your coffee as well!
xoxo
