When I woke up on Monday morning, my phone’s weather app told me the day was going to be blustery. Blustery? I had forgotten what that word meant given the mild winter we’ve been having. Living in New England, I am well acquainted with brutally frigid weather, and living in the city has forced me to come face to face with some truly blustery wind tunnels. That being said, I was well prepared for a very windy, very chilly day of exploring New York City this past weekend.

Having flown or taken a train to NYC and back to Boston for a few day trips recently, I realized how much I was missing out on such a bustling city. Spending so much time in transit for a quick meeting and then heading back to Boston again made me long to spend more time there. Exploring some of the more touristy spots was a blast and was something I haven’t been able to do in a long time.

The High Line (where these pictures were taken) was a site I did not expect to be as incredible as it was. The city has done an amazing job of turning these old railroad tracks into a gorgeous urban oasis. The seats and lounge chairs would be so perfect to enjoy on a sunny day while reading a book (I just had to try one out). After lots and lots of walking around and embracing the chill, it was so fun to warm up in Chelsea Market and snack on some goodies. This is such a unique spot with so many retailers and food choices – plenty of healthy and unhealthy options. I wish I had the time (and stomach capacity) to try them all.

Of everything there was to do and of everything that we did, seeing Aladdin on Broadway was my favorite! Given this was one of my favorite Disney movies growing up, I had high expectations – and the show did not disappoint. The costumes. The music. Even the jokes. It was all spectacular! The magic carpet prop was my favorite – I still am in awe of how it flew around the stage!

What are your favorite spots to visit in NYC? I’d love to know in the comments below!

Love this cozy look and that is a great bag color. Also, I STILL haven’t seen Aladdin on Broadway – I’m so jealous!

You look nice and cozy in your parka, toque and mitts. Stay bundled up and warm, Spring is not too far off.

Thanks, Brian! Here’s to hoping spring comes sooner rather than later this year!
