A Nantucket Getaway
With the temperatures truly starting to drop these last couple of days, I’m quite thankful to have squeezed in one last summery weekend getaway. Last weekend, the sun was shining, seas were calm, and my destination was…Nantucket! Just a quick one hour ferry ride from Hyannis, Nantucket is the ideal summer getaway for New Englanders. Having spent a lot of time this summer on the Cape, I was eager to finally make the trip to the island this summer.
My college bestie and I grabbed our weekenders (admittedly, mine was a little overpacked), and hit the road after work for a roomie reunion vacation. Since we were traveling in the off-season and traffic was lighter than usual, we made the drive from Boston to Hyannis with plenty of time to catch the ferry. If you ask me, mid-September just might be the best time to visit the island. By this time, the majority of tourists will have already taken their vacations, so the island will be a bit quieter. September is wedding season on Nantucket and for good reason! The days aren’t as hot, making this island destination most ideal.
A quick 7 minute walk from the ferry, we found refuge in our cozy, yet chic boutique hotel, 21 Broad (a Lark Hotel). Crisp, clean modern decor with touches of old world nautical made me feel like I was coming home to my renovated and refreshed childhood home.
Small Plates for Breakfast
There is always so much going on during the week, that I am the first to admit that I don’t always eat properly. Since we got to the island so late on Friday night, all we were able to grab was a slice of pizza. By the time Saturday morning rolled around, I was dying for some real food (with some real nutrition)! Instead of a continental breakfast or a traditional hearty breakfast, 21 Broad provides a variety of “small plates.” Fruit and veggies, nuts, muesli and pastries are right up my alley. Anyone who knows me knows that little snacks like these are what I munch on throughout the day. You can bet I was thrilled by the breakfast spread.
Nantucket is beyond gorgeous, and we spent a lot of time exploring. One of my favorite spots was Steps Beach (pictured above), but I’ll be sure to recap my weekend and all my favorite spots we visited in another post.
^^How amazing is this peacock chair?!
^^And these gorgeous jumbo dominos?! So fun!
Dreamy Decor
Seafaring vibes infiltrate the cozy property, but the modern design flair takes it up a notch for a very on-trend vibe. Cool blues and neutrals lend themselves well as a nautical palette backdrop for pops of bright sunshine yellow. Those vibrant, warm tones are what make the property so homey.
Relaxation Vibes
Outdoor seating on both the front porch and expansive back patio was most inviting. I swear if we didn’t have such big plans for hitting all the shops and exploring the rest of Nantucket, we’d have been lounging there all day. It did make for an ideal spot to sit by the fire and eat our ice cream cones after dinner! After such a fun and relaxing weekend, I’m already planning my next trip back!
Where is you favorite place to stay on Nantucket?

Thanks, Sarah! You absolutely must go, sometime! I actually think this September trip was the most ideal time to go (for future reference)! 😉
September in Nantucket is the best! I’m with you, my “weekender” always looks like I’m going away for 5 whole days with 3 different outfit choices for each 😉 Beautiful photos, glad you had a great time! Happy Monday!

I’m so glad you get me! I was a little embarrassed by my “suitcase” when we only stayed for two nights…but, I was really glad for all the options I packed 🙂
